- When and where did you meet with the vizsla breed and what made you interested in it?
When I was a little boy, around1941-1942 - I saw very interesting dogs. I was interested in their color, body structure, character... To tell the truth - I only knew they are hunting dogs, I had no idea about the different breeds. Only later I found out more about Magyar vizslas - it was while hunting partridges. These were the dogs of Mr. Ladislav Greznarik. This breed interested me greatly because of their very good working ability, soft character; in short, they seemed to have so many good qualities and features. Later as a young hunter - not yet know with dogs or breeder, I got my first vizsla - Odra from Carpats. It was in the year 1946.
- What can you tell us about the history of your Selle kennel?
Above I mentioned Mr. Greznarik, the breeder of Magyar vizslas - it was him who told me and showed me what it is to be a breeder. Apart from him, I have many great memories of my cooperation and friendship with Mr. Koloman Slimak. The Selle breeding was established by Mr. Greznarik in 1923. In the year 1971 after his death I continued in his work with these dogs in Selle kennel, that was his last wish.
Even before the year 1971 I had my breeding, called Zo Sale and I had a female dog called Kofa - she was the daughter after Dezi (the female of Mr. Greznarik).
So, Kofa was my first Selle dog, she had first puppies in 1968. Together she had 4 litters of puppies - 25 puppies.

- How many vizslas were born in your kennel and what do you consider as your biggest success?
I keep records of every puppy from every female dog. But here, I would like to mention only few of them; some of the breeders may still remember them. At the beginning it was my Kofa, as I mentioned above, then GIN, MIG, PUNCSI, KÓPÉ, BLESK, PUNCSI, CIGÁN, CÉZAR, CERO, CUPA, IBIS, BELA, UTO, VAJDA, ULA, VESNA, BAGÓ, BROK, BORA, EGON, DRAK, DAN, YORK, YDAR, VITÚZ, UFO, GAPRA, SÁVA, YKRA, LARA,TIBA, IMKA, ERON. I have watched all of them; they all have achieved very good results.
- How do you consider vizsla's as working dogs?
I always say they are very calm and soft dogs, but extremely responsible. They are easily handled, well-behaved, great apporters and very good in pointing . But the other truth is, that the genes do not make the "whole dog"- there is an important role of owner, he has to find his special way to co-operate with his vizsla.

- How do you see the differences between shorthair and wirehaired vizsla's, their advantages and shortcomings?
We should not speak about any shortcomings of this breed; at least it is not the right attitude to look for them. There is the official standard of the breed and we have a very good system to pick a breeding dog. This all should lead us to good results with both types of vizslas in the future - and the vizslas deserve this!
To be honest, I have to say my heart belongs to wirehaired vizsla. I always enjoyed working and hunting with them more than with the shorthair vizsla. The wirehaired vizsla is more resistant while working in the water, bad weather… I personally do now feel really sorry for many shorthair vizslas, as they have become so popular like a city dogs. This is really not their natural surrounding! They belong to nature. This for sure is also leading to lowering their standard and is not good for the quality of the breed.
- What do you consider to be your dream that did not come true while your breeding of vizsla's, and what are your hopes for vizsla's for future?
I wish there will be again the situation with vizsla's as it was in the 1970-s, when we did not have to fear that this excellent hunting dog breed would disappear.
I, as long as I can, am here to give my best advice and experiences to those interesting in vizsla breed. So, I wish to every vizsla breeder or the happy owner of vizsla good luck and lot of joy.
This work is not in vain, I have to repeat what I told above, and since I was a young boy I consider my vizsla's the best dogs.
The results of many vizslas from my breeding and their happy owners can only prove this fact.
